Tackling Radicalism through Active Citizenship of Europe in Schools (trACES)

On Thursday (14 June 2018) we conducted a lecture and a workshop at High School Domžale for students on the topic of women's movement and gender equality in politics.

In the introductory part, the lecturer explained tolerance, human rights and presented the meaning of controversial issues in the society. After this, we presented students the activity "musical chairs", in which students openly discussed topics that divide society in two parts – advocates and opponents of certain positions.

We continued with the presentation of women's movement and the development of feminism. We explained the three waves of feminism, feminist theories and women's studies. We then continued with an overview of the impact of media as a source of information for learning about gender and the source of stereotypes. The second and third part were followed by gender equality in politics. We presented the importance women’s political participation and their representation in institutions and political parties.

In the last part, we conducted a workshop with students, in which they had to recognize cases of gender roles in everyday life.

The lecture is available here.
